چکیده

This paper presents a technique for calculating the ac line-to-output and control-to-output transfer characteristics of dc/dc converters, in which the time instants switching from one topology to the next one are a priori unknown and are determined by threshold conditions (i.e., by the time evolution of the converter waveforms). Describing functions are defined for small perturbations in either the input voltage or the control signal. After injecting a sinusoidal perturbation at the frequency of interest into the converter, the fundamental component of the output spectrum is determined. The describing functions are thus evaluated and provide the required ac transfer characteristics. The proposed method is integrated with a previously developed time-domain simulation algorithm, which is based on monitoring the switches positions, allowing the simulator to find automatically the switching instants and topological sequence of operation. Different examples are illustrated, including a classical pulse-width-modulated (PWM) converter, a current-programmed PWM regulator, and a switchedcapacitor converter. The simulated results are compared with the experimental measurements and the results in the available literature.

A wavelet approach to fast approximation of steady-state waveforms of power electronics circuits

Waveforms arising from power electronics circuits often contain slowly changing segments with highfrequency details concentrated near the switching instants. Such a feature is consistent with the localization property of wavelets which are known in the signal processing literature to be highly suitable for describing fast changing edges embedded in slowly varying backgrounds. This paper conside...

A wavelet-based piecewise approach for steady-state analysis of power electronics circuits

Simulation of steady-state waveforms is important to the design of power electronics circuits, as it reveals the maximum voltage and current stresses being imposed upon specific devices and components. This paper proposes an improved approach to finding steady-state waveforms of power electronics circuits based on wavelet approximation. The proposed method exploits the time-domain piecewise pro...

Power Supply and Current Modulation Circuits for Semiconductor Lasers

Design and construction of a stable current supply with protection circuits are described. The reported circuit provides a high-stable and high-level current variable from 0.5-1.2 A with the protect ion circuits to prevent over load current, voltage and off-range temperature operation. A detailed analysis of the circuit parameters is given and the time behaviors of the load voltage/current and ...
